Choosing Health Funding

2010

(Small Grants scheme)

  

Please find attached guidance notes and application form for the “Choosing Health” funds, which are administered by Ashfield Voluntary Action, and are available specifically for small community and voluntary groups.

The grant application can be up to £1000 and for both capital and revenue purposes,

and requires no match funding.  The funding must target the following:-

 

  • Reducing smoking
  • Healthy eating
  • Promoting physical activity
  • Prevent Substance Misuse (including problem drinking)
  • Projects to promote sexual health
  • Prevent Domestic Violence
  • Mental health support and mental health promotion
  • Prevention of avoidable injuries, including falls prevention in older people
  • Promoting healthy eating and physical activity with children
  • Promotion and support for breast-feeding

 

The independent grants panel meets regularly to review and award these grants, so please complete the application form and return it at your earliest convenience.

 Choosing Health Small Grants Guildlines    Choosing Health Application Form

O2 Think Big-

Telecoms company O2 is offering £5 million to young people aged 13-25 across the UK to support a project of their choice in their local community. Successful applicants will receive a cash grant of £300, together with training and support to help them make the most of it.

The Think Big programme will also offer successful applicants the opportunity to re-apply for a further £2,500 cash for the project.

BBC Children in Need launches small grants programme -

deadline: 15 January, 15 April, 15 July and 15 October

BBC Children in Need has announced the launch of a small grants programme based on its experience that significant and valuable work can be achieved with a small annual grant of £10,000 or less for up to three years.

The programme is designed to encourage those who may never have considered applying to BBC Children in Need to send in an application. The Small Grants programme is in addition to BBC Organisations can apply at any time. There are four deadlines in the year, each with a 14-week turnaround: 15 January; 15 April, 15 July and 15 October.

The grantmaker offers support to applicants via its website, helpdesk and local staff who are keen to hear from projects before they apply. The charity aims to encourage both new and previous applicants.

 Grantsnet - free grants information site-

Grantsnet, the free grants information site, has overhauled its search facility. The site offers grant information for charities/voluntary organisations and for-profit organisations at no charge and without any requirement to register. The service, which covers England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales, is run by a team of volunteers.
The site's advanced search function now enables users to search by region and by activity, such as tourism, employment, environment/heritage, and children/young people.
A Grant Alert facility lets users sign up for email updates of new grant information that matches a user's interest.
